Simple, safe referrals between colleagues
Therapist Circle does one thing well: helps you find a trusted colleague with space, then gets out of the way.
1. Joining the circle
There are no open sign-ups. You join with an invitation code from the admin, either because a member suggested you or because you requested an invitation and named colleagues who can vouch for you.
A vouch means: “I know this person's work and I would refer a client to them.” Members can vouch for each other at any time, and vouches show on profiles.
What we check before an invitation is issued
- Registration or accreditation with HCPC, BACP, UKCP, BPS or a similar body, checked on the public register.
- That someone can vouch for your work.
- That you practise in the UK.
2. Your profile
Keep it short and practical: what a colleague needs to know before referring.
- Approaches (EMDR, CBT, schema, CFT, psychodynamic…)
- Client groups
- Online, in person (town or city), or both
- Fee range
- A short bio and who vouched for you
The one switch that matters
Change your status in a single tap:
Open to referralsWaiting listFull
Profiles show when the status was last updated, so referrers know it's current.
3. Posting a referral request
Choose from structured fields: age band, presenting issue, approach, format, area, availability and urgency. Add a short note if needed, never anything identifying.
Members who fit reply “I can help” with a short message. You see who they are and who vouched for them, then choose one.
4. Handing over
Choosing a colleague opens a private message thread between you both, to agree next steps. The client is then given your colleague's details directly, with their consent, outside the platform.
Therapist Circle doesn't book sessions, take payments or hold clinical notes.
Data protection
No client-identifiable information is ever posted or stored on Therapist Circle. Referral requests use structured fields and must not include names, initials, dates of birth, addresses, contact details, workplaces, or any combination of details that could identify a person.
- Referral requests and the replies to them are deleted automatically 30 days after posting.
- The site also blocks obvious identifiers (emails, phone numbers, postcodes, dates) in referral notes.
- Messages between members carry a reminder not to share client-identifiable details.
- Members remain responsible for their own UK GDPR obligations and for client consent.
