Who can list
“Nutritionist” isn’t a title protected by law in the UK, which is why we ask for a register entry. The Association for Nutrition runs the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN), with Registered Nutritionists (RNutr) and Registered Associate Nutritionists (ANutr). On the join form, choose “Nutritionist” as your profession and “Association for Nutrition” as your register.
Dietitians are different: “dietitian” is a protected title and dietitians join with the HCPC register. They have their own page, and our dietitian or nutritionist guide explains the difference for clients.
Counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and psychiatrists are just as welcome, and every profession is listed on the same terms. See our page for practitioners.
Which register we check
The Association for Nutrition’s Search the Register page. Here is exactly how we check: after you join, we search that page by your name or registration number and look for an entry that matches the name and number you gave us and shows a current registration. We check only people who have joined, one at a time, by hand. We don’t copy or store the register. The register is voluntary, and we can only list people we can check, so if your entry doesn’t appear in the public search we may not be able to list you until it does.
What you get, free
- A public profile on Find a therapist, if you choose to appear, under the Nutritionist profession on Find. It shows your register and number so people can check you themselves.
- Private introduction requests. People write to you through us and your email address is never shown.
- A members’ directory and peer space, messaging, and referrals between colleagues across professions.
- Links and resources, including a private practice start-here list.
- A free membership badge linking to your profile.
There are no paid tiers, featured spots, reviews or ratings, and we don’t take commission. Being listed doesn’t guarantee enquiries, clients or income. Therapist Circle is new and still growing, so there may be few listings from your profession yet.
How to list your practice
- Fill in the short join form with your name, profession, register and registration number. It takes about two minutes and you get member access straight away. The join form asks you to confirm that you have appropriate professional indemnity insurance or arrangements for the work you offer.
- We look you up on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find. We don’t promise a specific timing.
- When your name and number match, your profile can go live. You can hide it or delete your account at any time. We re-check listed practitioners at least once a year, and we don’t run identity checks.
Other places to be found
You can be listed in more than one place, and being on Therapist Circle doesn’t affect any professional-body membership. These are the organisations we know of for this profession. We are independent of all of them, and details can change, so please check their own pages for who can be listed and any cost.
- Association for Nutrition: Search the register: The public search of the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists. Check their site for what the register shows and how to use it.
Things to know
- Joining the AfN register is voluntary. Registration doesn’t make “nutritionist” a protected title, and we don’t claim the register is regulated by law.
- We don’t check qualifications, insurance or membership beyond the register entry.
- If you’re a dietitian as well, you can join with your HCPC registration instead.
- We check that your name and registration number match a current entry on the public register. A check is only correct on the day it was made, and it isn’t an identity check or a guarantee.
