List Your Occupational Therapy Practice Free (UK)
In short: We’re a free UK directory. Occupational therapists on the HCPC register can list their private practice with us at no cost, with no subscription, commission or card details. We look up your name and HCPC number on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find. Join free as an occupational therapist.
Uses your browser’s own voice. Nothing is sent to us.
Please read. This is general information written by Therapist Circle, not medical, clinical or professional advice. We’re a directory: we don’t provide therapy, we don’t recommend or guarantee any practitioner, and we’re not a crisis service. If you need urgent help, please use the crisis box at the bottom of this page. Services and rules change, so check the official websites linked here.
Who can list
“Occupational therapist” is a title protected by law, so we ask for HCPC registration. You don’t need to be a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists to list with us. On the join form, choose “Occupational therapist” as your profession and the HCPC occupational therapist register.
If you work privately alongside an NHS or other employed role, you can still list. The RCOT’s independent practice page says many occupational therapists combine roles and that you need to keep the work clearly separate and meet your employer’s and professional requirements.
Counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and psychiatrists are just as welcome, and every profession is listed on the same terms. See our page for practitioners.
Which register we check
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register. We search by your name and registration number and check they match a current occupational therapist entry. Our guide to finding an occupational therapist shows clients how to check the same register.
What you get, free
- A public profile on Find a therapist, if you choose to appear, under the Occupational Therapist profession on Find. It shows your register and number so people can check you themselves.
- Private introduction requests. People write to you through us and your email address is never shown.
- A members’ directory and peer space, messaging, and referrals between colleagues across professions.
- Links and resources, including a private practice start-here list.
- A free badge for your own website, linking to your profile.
There are no paid tiers, featured spots, reviews or ratings, and we don’t take commission. Being listed doesn’t guarantee enquiries, clients or income. Therapist Circle is new and still growing, so there may be few listings from your profession yet.
How to list your practice
- Fill in the short join form with your name, profession, register and registration number. It takes about two minutes and you get member access straight away. The join form asks you to confirm that you have appropriate professional indemnity insurance or arrangements for the work you offer.
- We look you up on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find. We don’t promise a specific timing.
- When your name and number match, your profile can go live. You can hide it or delete your account at any time. We re-check listed practitioners at least once a year, and we don’t run identity checks.
Other places to be found
You can be listed in more than one place, and being on Therapist Circle doesn’t affect any professional-body membership. These are the organisations we know of for this profession. We are independent of all of them, and details can change, so please check their own pages for who can be listed and any cost.
- RCOT: Independent practice and the Find an OT directory: The RCOT’s public directory lists independent occupational therapists who are RCOT members and HCPC registrants. RCOT asks you to email hello@rcot.co.uk to be added.
- RCOTSS-IP: Find an occupational therapist: The finder run by the RCOT Specialist Section for Independent Practice. Check their site for who can be listed.
Things to know
- The RCOT says you don’t need HCPC registration to own an independent practice, but you do to use the protected title “occupational therapist”.
- The RCOT says HCPC requires occupational therapists to have appropriate professional indemnity insurance for their work.
- We check that your name and registration number match a current entry on the public register. A check is only correct on the day it was made, and it isn’t an identity check or a guarantee.
Common Questions
Is there a free directory for occupational therapists in the UK?
Yes. Therapist Circle is a free UK directory where occupational therapists on the HCPC register can list their practice, with no subscription, commission or card details. The RCOT also runs a Find an OT directory for its members.
Where can an occupational therapist list a private practice in the UK?
You can list in more than one place. The RCOT’s Find an OT directory is for independent occupational therapists who are RCOT members and HCPC registrants (RCOT asks you to email hello@rcot.co.uk to be added), the RCOT Specialist Section for Independent Practice has its own finder, and Therapist Circle is a free directory open to any occupational therapist on the HCPC register.
Do I need to be an RCOT member to list on Therapist Circle?
No. We ask for your HCPC registration, not membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
Which register does Therapist Circle check for occupational therapists?
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register. Occupational therapist is a protected title, so we look up your name and number on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find.
Will listing on Therapist Circle get me clients?
We can’t promise that. People find you on Find a therapist and send a private introduction request, and your email address is never shown. Therapist Circle is new and still growing, so there may be few listings from your profession yet.
