List Your Arts Therapy Practice Free: Art, Music and Drama Therapists (UK)

In short: We’re a free UK directory. Art therapists, music therapists and dramatherapists on the HCPC register can list their practice with us at no cost, with no subscription, commission or card details. We look up your name and HCPC number on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find. Join free as an arts therapist.

Uses your browser’s own voice. Nothing is sent to us.

Please read. This is general information written by Therapist Circle, not medical, clinical or professional advice. We’re a directory: we don’t provide therapy, we don’t recommend or guarantee any practitioner, and we’re not a crisis service. If you need urgent help, please use the crisis box at the bottom of this page. Services and rules change, so check the official websites linked here.

Who can list

The Health and Care Professions Council protects four titles for arts therapists: art psychotherapist, art therapist, dramatherapist and music therapist. Anyone using one of them must be on the HCPC register, so that is the register we ask for. On the join form, choose “Arts therapist (art, music or dramatherapy)” as your profession.

Dance movement psychotherapists have their own professional register and their own page: list your dance movement psychotherapy practice.

Counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and psychiatrists are just as welcome, and every profession is listed on the same terms. See our page for practitioners.

Which register we check

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register. We search by your name and registration number and check they match a current entry for your arts therapy title. Our guide to finding an art, music or drama therapist shows clients how to check the same register.

What you get, free

  • A public profile on Find a therapist, if you choose to appear, under the Arts Therapist profession on Find. It shows your register and number so people can check you themselves.
  • Private introduction requests. People write to you through us and your email address is never shown.
  • A members’ directory and peer space, messaging, and referrals between colleagues across professions.
  • Links and resources, including a private practice start-here list.
  • A free badge for your own website, linking to your profile.

There are no paid tiers, featured spots, reviews or ratings, and we don’t take commission. Being listed doesn’t guarantee enquiries, clients or income. Therapist Circle is new and still growing, so there may be few listings from your profession yet.

How to list your practice

  1. Fill in the short join form with your name, profession, register and registration number. It takes about two minutes and you get member access straight away. The join form asks you to confirm that you have appropriate professional indemnity insurance or arrangements for the work you offer.
  2. We look you up on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find. We don’t promise a specific timing.
  3. When your name and number match, your profile can go live. You can hide it or delete your account at any time. We re-check listed practitioners at least once a year, and we don’t run identity checks.

Other places to be found

You can be listed in more than one place, and being on Therapist Circle doesn’t affect any professional-body membership. These are the organisations we know of for this profession. We are independent of all of them, and details can change, so please check their own pages for who can be listed and any cost.

Things to know

  • The three arts therapies are separate professions. On your profile you can say which you practise, in your title or bio.
  • A professional body’s membership and the HCPC register are different things. We check the HCPC register; we don’t check or show membership of BAAT, BAMT or BADth.
  • We check that your name and registration number match a current entry on the public register. A check is only correct on the day it was made, and it isn’t an identity check or a guarantee.

Common Questions

Is there a free directory for arts therapists in the UK?

Yes. Therapist Circle is a free UK directory where art therapists, music therapists and dramatherapists on the HCPC register can list their practice, with no subscription, commission or card details. Professional bodies such as BAAT and BAMT also run their own finders.

Where can a music therapist, art therapist or dramatherapist list a private practice in the UK?

You can list in more than one place. The professional bodies (BAAT for art therapists, BAMT for music therapists, BADth for dramatherapists) have their own finders, and Therapist Circle is a free directory open to any arts therapist on the HCPC register.

Which register does Therapist Circle check for arts therapists?

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register. Art psychotherapist, art therapist, dramatherapist and music therapist are protected titles, so we look up your name and number on the public register by hand before your profile appears on Find.

Do I need to be a member of BAAT, BAMT or BADth to list on Therapist Circle?

No. We ask for your HCPC registration, not membership of a professional body.

Are dance movement psychotherapists included?

Yes, with their own register. Dance movement psychotherapists join with their Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK registration. See our page for dance movement psychotherapists.
