Occupational therapy and speech & language therapy
This page is for people considering occupational therapy or speech and language therapy. Both are registered professions in their own right and often sit alongside, or instead of, talking therapies depending on the goal.
Occupational therapists (OT)
Help people take part in everyday activities that matter to them — work, study, self-care, routines, sensory needs, fatigue and recovery after illness or injury. Mental health OTs may focus on structure, meaningful occupation and practical coping.
Speech and language therapists (SLT)
Support communication, speech, language, stammering, voice and swallowing across the lifespan. That can include autistic people, acquired conditions, and voice work that intersects with confidence and mental health.
